Wren Castellan

Wren Castellan spent a decade as a structural engineer before writing a single page of fiction — a fact that shows up in every book, if you know where to look. Novels get load-bearing walls too; Wren just prefers to hide them in the plot.

The first manuscript, written over three winters in a converted garage, became The Glass Orchard. It was rejected by eleven agents before Wren decided to publish it directly — partly out of stubbornness, partly because the studio model meant no editor could talk the cellar scene out of the book. Readers found it anyway.

Since then, the catalog has grown into six novels across three distinct worlds: domestic gothic thrillers grounded in inherited land and inherited silence; sci-fi romance set across a dying star system; and a dark fantasy series about a mountain that remembers everyone it swallows. Different genres, same instinct — start with the thing a family agreed never to say out loud, and build a book around it.

Wren writes every first draft longhand, edits twice in-house before any outside eyes see a page, and still keeps the original blueprint pencils from the engineering years on the desk, mostly out of superstition.
